Senior in school camp

Last week the senior school camp was supposed to be a houhora heads but the weather was to rainy to go. So we did a senior in school camp on Monday we did an a amazing race and we did fun activities. We stayed at school and played spot light the girls sleep in kakapo or Te Kahu class and the boys sleep in Piwakawaka or tui. 

 On Tuesday we went to Matai bay for a swim. We made some kia/food for us to take. Some people got some swimming gear for diving or something like that. After that it was so cold after the swim but i got warmer and warmer.

On Wednesday we went to  the movies and which War with grandpa it was a funny movie me and my friends got a family pack for us three.

On Thursday we went to the pools for a pool party. It was a fun day everyone was jumping in the diving pool  and everyone had so much fun.

Blog comparison

My class did a comparison of our previous blogs and to our present blogs. I look at my past blogs and they bring back many memories. my previous blog are very quality and explains more information.

2019

My first blog was in 2019 it was about baking during mahi tahi. The difference is that i used the words over and over again. I did not add pictures and explain the topic that well.

2020

My present blog are very different to my other past blogs i had quality information and had added paragraph to describe my topic. I add pictures to show what I did and I wanted the reader to read what I am learning about.

 

Angles

 Today Kakapo class was learning about angles. We learnt    about different name for different angles. An acute is less than 90° and a obtuse is greater than 90°  but less than 180°. The angles are measured by a protractor a protractor is shaped as a half circle.

To measure an angle is you put the centre on the protractor on the corner of the angle. where they meet and where ever the line it up you measure it up with the line that is on an angle. here is what a protractor look like. and here is an right angle.

                          

Where in the world

 This weeks Where in the world we did The Daintree Rainforest. The Daintree Rainforest is located in the northeast coast of Queensland,Australia. The Kuku Yalanji people live in the Daintree Rainforest. Their songs and legends continue to this day. Daintree Rainforest is the oldest Rainforest on Earth. the area is 1,200 km2. This is what i did.

 

learning blog

 This week my class did where in the world the place we did was Cobh its a town in Ireland. Cobh population is 10,501 its known as the Titanic last port of call in 1912. The day the Titanic left Cobh was on April 11, 1912 the towns local time is Tuesday 10:20 pm.

The next thing I did was what would happen if trees expelled 10% of oxygen. For my bad thing was trees produce 100% of oxygen. So take away 90% from 100% that would be 10% of oxygen. we would have trouble breathing with 10% of oxygen.

    

planting at Lake Gem , lake ngatu

 yesterday my whole class went to lake Gem which is behind Lake ngatu for planting.We did this because we were learning about sustainability and we wanted to add more natives around our environment.So we added Mānuka,kānuka and cabbage/tī kōuka and harekeke/flax.To know if it is a Mānuka or kānuka, a kānuka has soft leaves and a Mānuka has spiky leaves.

The first plants me and my friends stared with way the ones on the bottom which was harekeke/flax.There was this man who was digging and the harekeke/flax was in pots.We worked our way up and then we planted  Mānuka. It wasn't  that mamae/sore.

Then I was very wera/hot so i got my self  a bottle of  wai/water. I went where i put my bag well i was walking there i felt a māeke/cold heavy wind going straight past me well i was walking.

When the mahi/job was done we took lots of group photo and we had tina/lunch and here is a photo from yesterday.

local legend book

 This week and last week we had two write information about a local legend.A local legend is a person the broke a record or changes NZ i did Ernest Rutherford.Our student teacher Mr hobson he said that he wanted to crate a local legend  book so he gave all of us a doc.We had to write information about who we are writing .

With Ernest Rutherford i had to say where he was born,early life,and information about his history.Ernest Rutherford is local legend because he was the first person to split the atom with an big machine.

We had to make our own book cover one i had draw two faces of Ernest Rutherford,the NOBEL prize and of course the atom.I write his name with black felt pen writ it with a stencil. Here is Ernest Rutherford.    

My moment in time

 This week we had to pack two videos one was a man surfing and a man drifting in a race car.The video i chose was the man surfing  it put lots of wow word in my writing i get to see more things and i imaged what i would of heard.

i explained what i would feel so i said that the ocean was a cold like a freezing ice block.I was surprise how the mans the mans hair did not get wet.He went through the wave and and i said that the man heard the wave crashing like heavy rain in the sky.

My local legends

 Last week we had to write about a NZ heroes,Local legends.We had to talk about how they became a hero to NZ ,What their early life was and facts.I did Ernest Rutherford he is the first person to split the atom an atom is the smallest thing i thing in the world.

What i found interesting was his early life.He was the fourth of 12 children  and the second son.His farther ,James, had a little education and straggles to support his large  family.Ernest mother,Martha,was a school teacher.

Ernest Rutherford was born in 1817 30 of August in Brightwater,NZ.He die in 1937 19 of October Cambridge,united kingdom.Ernest Rutherford died at the age of 66 years old die by hernia,Hernia is when a organ pushes though an opening of the mussel or tissue and holds it in place.

Thing that was hard was to research fact and other things about Ernest  Rutherford life and what he did when he was young and facts.  

moment in time writing.

 This week we are writing a moment in time wiring.We had to watch a video and write our writing about a man gliding in the air and saying what he feels,hear, sees and what he was doing.

In my writing i said what the man was doing when i first saw the video  the man was walking up high stairs and then his turn he counted 3,2,1.Then i was talking about what he was feeling i said he was feeling heavy breeze going straight past his face.

My brain writing

 This weeks contract we had to explain what dose the brain do.We had to say where the brain to located and fact about the brain and we had to talk about how important the brain is.This is my  writing and facts about the brain.

The Brain is in  the skull.The Brain helps your body to move and do meany things.The brain has meany parts the dose lots of important rolls.

One part is called the cerebrum.The cerebrum is the biggest part of the brain and is the most important part.The cerebrum helps you think and make decision for you.

(Movement)

Another part is called the cerebellum.The cerebellum helps you with your movement and balance.If you did not have a cerebellum you  would not  be able  to stand properly and will move funny.

(memory and emotion)

Other part is called the Amygdala.The Amygdala is a important because it helps you with your memory and emotion.Each Amygdala is located close to the hippocampus ,in the frontal portion temporal lobe.

Rainforest learning week 9

In kakapo we have been creating poster and slide  about the Rainforest because the guy name  prince EA inspired us to describing what we are doing wrong to the Amazon  Rainforest .We had to do this so others will know that we are destroying a forest that is beautiful and that has the most animal and trees that are living and growing  in it.

Almost everyday people are cutting the trees down and planting palm trees for this oil name palm oil.People say that they are planting palm trees because palm oil is cheaper so they add it to chocolate,shampoo and other things.

The Amazon Rainforest covers the surface up to 2% and all of the Rainforest together is 13% of the Earth surface. If we had no trees there be no oxygen and no oxygen mean no us and life.

The only way to survive is to plant a protect our tree and save the  planet.  

powerful paragraph

Powerful  paragraph writing.Powerful paragraph writing  is when you writing a story about something or some where you has to describe what you are writing about and add some majestic words in your story.You can add similes and metaphor in you story.

A simile is comparison of one thing with another kind of thing like as soft as silk ans as fluffy as cotton candy.A metaphor is a word or phrase is applied  that is not literal or passable so like he was a shining star. 

For my powerful paragraph my class we had to look at a photo and writ and describe what we see and use metaphors and similes to what we think it feels like.here is the photo we had to do today.

My Emotion

Last week on Monday kakapo class made Emotion wheels.Emotion wheels  is a paper circle that has six half each half has an a emotions and we have to think what the emotion feels like and what it looks  like to as.

One half was sad so we had to draw what sad look like to as there was scared, happy,angry,excited and proud.We had to think out side the box and think what colours ,shapes and sizes to use.

For sad i did one big tear drop i the middle and on the left hand corner i did a light blue and a dark blue.My scared was sharp and pointy teeth on the top and bottom and light red eyes that looks straight right at you and black for the back ground of the eyes.Next one is happy what i did for happy was donuts dribbles and colour confetti.Excited i was thinking what if i did draw a circus because when i go to the circus i´m  always excited to watch the show. Anger i did  orange fire with and dark  red back background.last but not lest proud i draw a gold metal with two stars on each side of the metal and a yellow background.

getting a dog during lock down

 On April the 22 my Nan got us a dog name Coco. Coco is a girl and she is 5 years old and her breed is a bull mastiff if you do not know what a bull mastiff is .the bull mastiff are a lager size dog that they can reach to 24 or 27 inches of height and 100 to 130 pounds of weight. they  have short fur that helps them in rain,snow and cold .                                                                                                                                                                                       Coco was born to be a guard dog and she has spent her whole life on wire run with her old family but we let her run around. Coco barks at our neighbours when they go up their drive way and they also have beautiful horse and Coco just sit and stare at them. Our other neighbours the have two horses and one cow and when the cow puts its head on our side of the fences and eat the grass Coco will snap at the cow.

Confession poem

Last week me and my class Kakapo we did a Confession poem made by William carols William. In class we made our own confession poem we edited on our class slide.                                                                                                                                             Some of as did our confession poem about eating food in the pantry and eating chocolate. Next time i want to make a Change in my poem in make another topic and more vocabulary.                                                                                                                                                                                                     I enjoy doing my confession poem is because my confession is about when i was little i broken the book self and it bring back memory's. The challenge thing is trying to add my words carefully .

Our heart art

In Kakapo we did a art called heart art. Heart art has checkers pattern and a big heart in the middle.We colour the checkers in the heart with two different colours and two other different colours on the outside of our heart.for my art i did an orange and yellow in my heart and red and green on the outside.                   And this is my art
